Zen Buddhism is a famous Buddhist local branch in China with simple, straightforward features, Zen philosophy is the quintessential part of India Buddhism and Chinese culture. From the beginning to the prosperous, the Confucianism, Taoism and Zen get the mutual confluence and become the important effects on the development of Chinese ideological system. At the same time, the influence of Zen Buddhism on secular culture, such as the poetry, literature, aesthetics, landscape and other aspects, have become a spiritual pillar and source of creation. Artistic conceptions become the standards which bring far-reaching impacts on the traditional Chinese garden.By means of literature reviews, field investigations, analysis methods, the author uses the Zen aesthetic to explore the infiltration and influence of Zen on other kinds of art. The author discusses today’s domestic and foreign examples of Zen garden, summarizes the application of Zen and art technique of building elements, which extract and garden art and the related concepts and elements, so as to explore the modern significances of the Zen garden.On the basis of previous studies, the author explores the essence of Zen philosophy to inherit the traditional concept and gardening. Summarize the theory to guide the design of modern landscape architecture with unique national characteristics.
