On The Creation Of Artistic Conception Of Zen In Interior Space

Hoderlin,a German poet,once remarked that men dwell on this early poetically.Metropolitan areas in today's world,saturated with glass curtain walls and swarming with surging capital and a booming population,are vigorous and vibrant,leading the world into a new chapter of development with the fastest pace ever.However,urban dwellers start to become anxious,upset and even irritable in a space full of neon lights,busy construction sites and random parallel of modern and traditional streets.The fast pace of life and bustle of cities have been troubling for most people.In such condition,it is reasonable to ask questions like:what kind of interior design do people actually need?Are excessive decorations and complicated wall&ceiling design necessary?In fact,what people really need is a poetic space where they can slow down,seek relaxation,lay down "arms",be completely honest with their beloved ones,and find catharsis for their heart and souls.As an interior designer,the writer of this thesis has always hoped to insert traditional eastern culture and eastern aesthetics into interior design so as to present a unique sense of culture and artistic conception of Zen.Based on research into artistic conception of Zen in traditional eastern culture,and reflections on architectural interior space and daily life,the writer is looking for constituent elements contributing to the cultural connotations and features typical of the oriental,thereby providing ideal habitats for people's souls.Artistic conception of Zen in indoor spaces cannot be fully expressed in words.With reference to the classical Oriental architecture,modernized construction and interior decoration nowadays have unique aesthetic effects,specifically,a sense of calmness,sincerity and transcendence of reality.It is of objective existence but hard to be defined,representing eternity while disappearing—this is the artistic conception of Zen this paper aims to analyze.Starting from Dhyana,the author summarizes the history of Zen and artistic conception to unfold the main components of the artistic conception of Zen.Then the author introduces and analyzes works of interior design of Zen style,serving as a clue to understand the artistic conception of Zen in the field of interior design.The purpose is to make people realize the aesthetic silence,vacancy,plainness and neatness in the artistic conception of Zen on the aesthetic basis of natural rule and Zen.It is necessary to meditate on the question that what kind of structural plan and elements should interior designers employ to equip buildings with the artistic conception of Zen.
