21Century is the century of design, but also the century of competition, any design will face fierce competition, the design of social needs is the design that have competitive advantage, rather than be eliminated design. Therefore, at present, fast, efficient product design is an important research field of the design methodology, while the virtual clay modeling technology of FreeForm appeared is a beneficial supplement for the available computer aided design method, thus, the research has strong application value to enrich the computer aided design modeling method, especially to the surface model, rapid modeling and manufacturing integration, rapid response to market demand and changes.This paper launch the research around the rapid product design, on the basis of refer to the relevant literature at home and abroad. First of all, this paper is from the Technology composition of virtual clay technology to analysis four stages of the virtual clay technology generation, development, prosperity and future trend of development. Make the fourth stage that is the sense of touch in the design of complex curved surface modeling as the object of study. Through the analysis of the virtual reality technology, force feedback technology,3D Touch technology and FreeForm operating system, from the three-dimensional modeling of Wire frame modeling, surface modeling and solid modeling, comparison of three kinds of modeling method for the basic construction method, view construction method and free engraving method. Analysis of the concept and the characteristic, come to conclusion of the technique has the advantages on the complex surface modeling design. Secondly, summarizes the product surface modeling, crafts surface modeling, character animation arts surface modeling and other special products surface design, which is divided into a regular curved surface modeling and irregular curved surface modeling, the concrete shape and abstract shape modeling, regular type (broken line, straight line circular type)surface modeling and irregular type curved surface modeling. Combined with concrete examples, describes the modeling method has the advantages of fast and convenient application value to improve the design speed, rich expression effect (curved surface), optimization design process. Finally, through its application in various fields, and the detailed steps of mapping, come to conclusion of the technology is beneficial to the concept of product design, flexible design process, facilitates the rapid, efficient batch production. At the same time, but also conducive to play designer’s design wisdom, both economic and social benefits, its shape is easy to meet consumer demand for new and exaggeration, and has the advantages of clear market demand, good product molding and the prospect of its industrialization.On the basis in previous research, emphasize discussed the concept of product design, in the entire process from market research, the function design, principle design to commercial design, can not only create the product design of more humane, more beautiful, and more in line with consumer demand, but also conducive to the rapid production and rapid manufacturing. Elaborated the technology can finally realizes the product of one-stop production which combined design from the design drawing to model making to the final product. Indicate that the technology can solve the problem of complex surface modeling and optimization design, at the same time, but also conducive to the realization of product design innovation, process innovation, materials innovation, market innovation, equipment innovation, production organization,management innovation and its user innovation.
