Investigation And Analysis On Plant Landscape Of Xihui Park In Wuxi

As the development of city construction, garden greenland plays an increasingly important rolein ameliorating ecological environment, and how to create garden plant landscape scientifically andrationally becomes a problem that the modern city’s green space construction are facing. Somegardens and scenic spots had been rebuilt as urban park since1949, the plant landscape is also havebeen basically mature through recent fifty or sixty years’ growth. Therefore, it has a strong practicalapplication and the reference value of carrying out the research of old parks’ plant landscape.According to the spot research and experts’ advice, the Xihui park in Wuxi city was selected tostudy, and there were19cases taken to study in this park. Data were collected from several ways,such as literature review, spot mapping and interviews. On the basis of fully understanding of thecurrent situation, a systemic study was discussed upon the plant landscape characteristics, landscapingconcept and the existing plant distribution problem during the construction process of Xihui Park:(1)The spirit and culture of ancient and modern gardens are interrelated closely; park built by Hill, eachgarden’s scenery is different from each other; imitating the nature to prominent the local plantlandscape.(2) Eleven kinds of representative model of plant configuration were summarized in thisdissertation, to collect and promote these classical cases, making the study on plant landscape ofYangtze River Delta region more systematic.(3) Combine the theoretical research and practicalresearch, generalize and analyze the configuration art of plants and mountain, water, building, road.(4)Through the investigation and study of these cases, there are57families and127species in park, thenumber of high frequency application species is less than20kinds, the level of application of plantspecies and plant diversity remains to be improved.According to the results of above-mentioned investigations, the following developmentorientations of Xihui park’s plant landscape were put forward:(1) The using function and landscapecharacteristics of plant landscape should be taken into account together during construction;(2)Enriching plant species in the park, and to further promote the application of local fine wild species;(3) According to the natural condition and historical records, restore some sites’ plant landscape;(4)To explore and exploit the new models of plant communities. With careful research and analysis, thegardening patterns that suited for the geographical environment in Wuxi city were summarized to promote the development of related theoretical studies and modern city’s environmental construction.What is more, it can offer some valuable experiences to other city’s plant landscape construction.
