The research on passive adaptive technology of traditional dwellings in Lingnan region, especially in Guangfu area, has made great achievement in various aspects, but it is much less in Chaoshan area which is in eastern Guangdong Province because of the respective geographical location and culture particularity. With the ascendant of new rural construction in China, the problem of rural energy consumption will become more and more severe gradually. The paper based on the object of the the rural resident in Chaoshan areas, with field measurement as research methods, is in-depth study of rural residential ventilation problems through simulation analysis. The specific research work are as follows:(1) Summarizes the typical plan of rural resident in Chaoshan area. The author measured the thermal and the wind environments of indoor and outdoor on selected typical rural houses. The main contents of the measurement includes air temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction indoor and outdoor and WBGT in door. Especially set a long-term observation on temperature for85days in three typical residential room.Site mapping of the measured object, draw the plan and elevation.(2) Focus on patio, testing and analysis on wind speed and temperature of the vertical surface. Conclusion:in the multilayer buildings which retain the patio, the buoyancy takes effect during the transition season; in summer, the buoyancy and pressure ventilation both taking effect during daytime while only wind driven ventilation at night.(3) Analyzed on the measured data set from the layout of the form of villages, streets and alleys, resident plan and other aspects. Conclusion:the wind speed of the first floor is faster with windows open toward north than closed; the reserved patio bring better wind environment of residents with2,3layers, but also lower the wind speed in the hall of first floor; the height width ratio is low in the alleys around traditional single-layer residents so the wind driven ventilation is leading the way, while with high ratio in the alleys around multi-storey dwellings, wind and pressure driven ventilation work at the same time.(4) Numerical simulation analysis by FLUENT and then contrast the results of experiment and simulation comes the conclusion:indoor thermal and wind environments of dwellings which retain the patio are better than which canceled.Through in-depth study of the natural ventilation in rural dwellings of Chaoshan area, the author provides a reference for the future of building local rural residents.
