Building energy consumption accounts for a large proportion (about 40%) inenergy consumption in today's society. Building energy saving is attracting more and more attention of people. Natural ventilation is an effective way in building energy saving. The way modern human use of natural ventilation has been different from the previous way—only to open window and door, but how to make full use of indoor and outdoor conditions, such as building environment, building construction (such as the atrium), solar radiation, climate, indoor heat, mechanical ventilation, to organize and induce natural ventilation.The objects of this research are a residence and ancestral hall—two typical Ming and Qing architectures in Nanshe village, Dongguan city.The indoor and outdoor thermal environment is measured from 25th August,2009 to 8th September and from 25th September to 3rd October to find out the main factors influence on indoor and outdoor micro-climate and the universal law of natural ventilation of southern china architecture. Then the interior ventilation of the residence is simulated by using CFD method.And the influence of various factors such as patio,window setting and floor vents on interior airflow distribution is analyzed as well. The standard K-ξmodel of steady turbulent flow in software FLUENT is used to simulate the interior airflow field. Three-dimensional velocity and temperature field are obtained. The main conclusion is as follows by the study:First, to the cooling effect on thermal environment, Lengxiang is the most obvious, followed by shade, pond, and the porcelain road is the slowest.Second, to the cooling effect on air temperature, the underlying surfaces are as follows:shade> ventilation> water> porcelain Road. The trend of air temperature change with time is opposite to that of relative humidity at the elevation height of 1.5m, the relative humidity of shade is the highest, and the relative humidity of porcelain road is the lowest.Third, during the test, outdoor thermal comfort model OTCD exceeds the evaluation scope of thermal comfort and enters into the evaluation scope of thermal safety. The thermal environment of patio position is best, compared with porcelain road exposed to the sun, the maximum difference of WBGT index reaches 3.1℃.The maximum value of WBGT index appears at12:00-14:00 during the day.Fourth, the factors such as outdoor temperature, building components,room openings form influence on interior natural ventilation are analyzed.Outdoor temperature directly affects the indoor temperature under natural ventilation conditions;The influence effect of window setting ia also significant, Opening position should be adjusted to produce a more uniform airflow field; Open-air courtyard patio is good for indoor natural ventilation.The analysis of natural ventilation in buildings by numerical simulation, not only can evaluate their ventilation conditions, but also can provide a certain reference value for building planning and design.
