The Study Of Architectural Function Evolvement On Library

With the development of information technology, the rise of digital library, the future ofthe library building became the focus of many scholars. As for China’s reality, with thecontinuous progress of urbanization and the improvement of the urban public cultural servicesystem, the new library building in major cities is being completed, while the Small andmedium sized cities’ libraries is in the ascendant. It shill has a long way to go for our librarybuilding to develop the city library branch and popular the library building in the small cities.In this paper, the evolution of the library building functions is the main study，meanwhileit proposed that the development of the technology is the main factors on the library buildingfeatures.Ultimately the article carries on China’s contemporary library features research statusand the trend of development.For the advanced of the development about urban public library,to ensure the rigorouslogic and the scientific of the research,this study is limited to the urban public library aboutthe contemporary studies of the library building.Full-text is divided into five chapters, which focus on Chapter3，4and5. Conclusion partmakes a general summary to the study.Chapter1.Introduction.This chaper describes the research backgaound and theIsignificance.It summed up the status of the international theoretical research and thearchitectural practice.Chaper2.Overview of the library.This chapter details the emergence and development ofthe library building.It pointed out the current development and the problems of the librarybuildings.Chaper3.The study on the affection about the library building functions by thetechnology.This chaper pointed out that the technology is the direct factor to affecting thedevelopment of the library building function. It generalized three stages of the printingperiod,the industrial revolution and information technology.Chaper4.The case studies about the city public library building domestic andinternational.This chaper are to nine cases of construction in the five countries,such asFrance,the United States,Japan,Britain,Austria and eight public library buildings in five citiesof China.It summarize the characteristics of contemporary library building function..Chapter5.The trends and the future of China’s public library function.This chapersummarizes the status of library building function.Finally,it predict the library building’sfuture,combined with China’s reality.
