Long-span steel structure is widely accepted for its advantages from the day it appeared.With the development of nation economy, culture and sport undertakings go forwardcontinuously, the demand of long-span structure grows with it rapidly. Because of the increaseof structure’s span, variety of structure style and complexity of structure’s interior, joints ofconstruction member are diversified nowadays. As well, mechanical demand of these diversejoints in long-span structure is higher than before. Designers do not only need to ensure thefunction of reliable force transport of joints, but also need to the precise simulation andanalysis a spectacular joint in every single structure.In former analysis and design process of steel structure, connections of constructionmembers especially the bearings in long-span structures are usually considered as rigid,released or entirely slide. But when practically in use, construction members’ mechanicalproperty is always not in rigid, released or entirely slide situation. Parts of the joints arerelevant in geometry deformation. In this paper, mechanical characteristic of bearing will beresearched considering bearing size effect and friction, results will be statistically analysed.Firstly, the method used in former design processes that consider the point ofconstruction members intersection as rotate center of the bearing joint is improved. Excursionof rotate center in whole structure is simulated in finite element software, then the mechanicalcharacteristic of different models are analysed and concluded to obtain the regular pattern ofthe influence to the whole structure. Secondly, investigate the mechanical property of bearingby simulating the bearing part precisely using FEM software Abaqus. Reaching the frictioncharacteristic of bearing and consider the influence of friction in the whole calculating model,different situations of various rotate radius are examined and influence to constructionmembers is reached. Lastly, synthesize the influences of the two impact factors, attentiveanalysis of various calculating models are done and regular pattern is concluded.Through the research work of this paper, mechanization and analysis method of bearingsin long-span structure are deepened. Analysis results are contrasted with mechanical propertyof the situation that bearings were considered to be rigid, released or entirely slide in formeranalysis and design processes. Method used in this paper could help to fit the calculatingmodel to structure’s practical situation in use, which could be a reference for similar projects.
