As a kind of abundance renewable resource, wind power has many advantages, such aslow cost, high performance and enough safety, etc. In today’s environment pollution andenergy resources shortage increasingly serious international situation, the study of windpower technology received more and more scholars’ attention. Switched reluctance generatorfor wind power systems can achieve variable speed direct drive power generation, has theadvantages of low-speed performance, low cost, high power generation efficiency, reliability,and has a very broad prospects for development.This paper focuses on the application of switched reluctance generators in wind powersystem.First, this paper describes the current domestic and international wind powerdevelopment status and an overview of wind power technology, pointed out the direction ofdevelopment of wind power technology and the advantages of the switched reluctancegenerator used for wind power system, made the research significance clear.Second, this article details the basic structure and working principle of the switchedreluctance generator, and then the motor’s mathematical description, relationship between theinductor and the rotor position angle, power generation operating characteristics and thegenerator energy conversion theory have been analyzed in detail.Third, it describes the switched reluctance wind power system components and theirworking principles, two excitation modes of generation are analyzed and three basic controlmethods of Switched Reluctance Generator: The angular position control, PWM control andcurrent chopping control are described in detail. On this basis, establish system’s simulationmodel based on Matlab/Simulink, and simulation analysis on the performance of the systemof self-motivation and characteristics of DC bus voltage building.Fourth, study on the maximum power point tracking control method for switchedreluctance wind power generation system. First introduced the power characteristics of windturbine and the common maximum power point tracking control methods, and then elaboratethe implementation process of fixed-step power disturbed control method. Finally, in Matlabsimulation experiment, verify the feasibility of the power disturbed control method and clear the drawbacks of the fixed-step control method.Fifth, an adaptive-step power disturbance control method based on fuzzy PI control isproposed, to solve the step size selection problem of fixed-step power disturbed controlmethod and improve the control performance. Finally, use simulation experiment to verify thefeasibility of the improved method.
