This article systematically conducts a comparative study on the use of gymnasiumamong Chongqing University of Technology, Guangdong College of Pharmacy and SouthChina University of Technology by applying different methods, such as collectinginformation from different literatures, conducting field research and taking questionnairesurveys, etc. in order to establish a feedback system which is based on the feedbacks andresponses towards gymnasia mentioned above from university students, which can provideuseful and scientific information and references for the design of university’s gymnasium.Generally speaking, the brief structure of this article is shown as follows: Chapter2is abouteach gymnasium’s external environment and modeling, internal space and function. Chapter3focuses on the targeted field research based on the information previously collected. The fieldresearch is conducted by combining field observation with behavior records, taking photoswith roughdrawing, respectively, which aims to gain feedbacks on the use of the threegymnasia from users. The research follows the order from outside to inside, more specifically, from external environment and modeling to internal space and environment. Chapter4, themost persuasive part of this article, is based on users’ feedbacks and responses collected fromquestionnaires. The comparative study gives top priority to the information collected from thequestionnaires, complementing with university students’ advices, field research and behaviorrecords. The information includes two aspects, the first one is external environment andmodeling and the other one is internal space and environment. To be more exact, the formerone includes coordinate location, general layout and external modeling of each gymnasiumand the latter one includes the audience space environment, the traffic flow line, the venuespace environment and the venue traffic streamline. Chapter5gives the suggestions on thedesign of university’s gymnasium according to the information and data we have. Thesuggestions can be divided into two parts: design of external environment and modeling andthat of internal space and environment. As to the former part, it includes suggestions oncoordinate location, general layout and external modeling and as to the latter one, it includessuggestions on space environment and the venue traffic streamline. Unlike the requirementsof design standards and specifications, the suggestions I offer in this article are put forwardfrom the users’ needs, representing the large majority of users’ demands and expectations.Although suggestions eventually put forward are in a qualitative way, it has significantly realistic meanings, acting as a necessary complement to design standards and specifications,as well as a valuable reference to the design of university’s gymnasium.
