Using reliability and reliability index to describe the safety of engineeringstructure has formed a complete theoretical system and been applied in manycontries’ design and identification codes. It is a milestone in the developmentand represents a new level of knowledge for the structure domain. But now,compared with the traditional method, structure reliability is limited in practicaluse because of its complexity. On the other hand, as a result of corrosiveenvironment, function changed and other reasons, safety evaluation and residuallife forcast of reinforced concrete structure is a focus in scientific research. Inthis paper, reliability and reliability index are used as standard to evaluate thesafety and residual life of members in reinforced concrete structure, then theeffectiveness of this method is investigated. The main work of the paper is asfollows:1. To prepare for the reliability analysis, calculation method of RC flexuraland compression-flexure members’ resistance in different stage, stationarybinomial random process models of common loads were given and variables’correlation was considered. In the calculation method research of resistance’sprobability model, fiber model method was introduced, and result can beobtained through sampling, substitution and fitting. This method can reduce thedependence on formulas in resistance calculating, make a broader applicationscope and ensure the analysis efficiency.2. For the purpose of engineering application, this paper put forward themethod and process of reliability analysis based on the result of whole structureanalysis. Taking frame beams as example, we tried to output the probabilitydistribution parameters of resistance and load effect by C#through SAP2000API, then imported the data into Matlab to calculate the reliability index ofevery position. Calculation examples were given for application and the resultswere discussed by contrast with common method of structure evaluate. 3. Based on JC method, the reliability sensitivity analysis for reliability indexwas performed, and the distributed parameters of factors what pose majorinfluence on the reliability of reinforced concrete members were obtained.4. Taking ocean chloride environment as example, the evaluation method forresidual life of reinforced concrete members based on time-dependent reliabilitywas put forward. Through the analysis of a calculating example, the reliabilitydegredation process of flexural and compression-flexure members was obtainedand the residual life of reinforced concrete members can be evaluatedquantitatively.
