With the successive opening and operation of Beijing-Shanghai and Wuhan-Shenzhen high speed railway, China’s high speed railway has entered a rapid development period. A reasonable Operation scheme of EMUs is the premise of efficient operation of high-speed railway. Thus based on the analysis of the constituent elements, influencing factors and preparation principles of the operation scheme of high speed railway EMUs, this article establishes a multiple objective mathematical programming model for operation scheme of EMUs in high speed railway and proposes the associated optimization strategy. The article includes the following four aspects.(1) To maximize the utilization of two decision-making bodies--passenger and railway enterprise, this article establishes a high-speed railway EMU’s train plan multiple objective nonlinear mixed integer planning model, whose constraints include capacity constraint, passenger flow constraint, the transport capacity constraint and the daily number of kilometers constraint to meet EMU’s maintenance.(2) This article summarizes the domestic and foreign practical experience of "mass transit type" high-speed railway operations, explores the connotation of "mass transit type" high-speed railway, and analyzes the adaptability for the "mass transit type" high speed railway. The analysis shows that it can run "mass transit type" high-speed railway within certain range of time and space and it also determines the adaptability range of "mass transit type" high-speed railway based on the qualitative analysis.(3) Combining the strategy of "mass transit type" high-speed railway, this article proposes stepwise optimization methods for high-speed railway EMUs. Firstly, the article builds a0-1integer planning model to match EMU’s origin and destination points and use Dijkstra algorithm to determine its shortest running path. Then it proposes methods to determine EMU’s operational classes and quantity. Based on passenger spatial and temporal distribution characteristics this article builds a stopping plan mathematical model combined the constraints of time window and departure frequency and designs corresponding algorithms. Comparing the existing Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway operation plan of optimized passenger OD flow with the actual running plan, the result shows that the optimized running plan proposed in this article can better fit the passenger travelling discipline and embodies the interests of the railway enterprises.(4) Under the background of the high-speed rail network planning for2020, this article selects Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway and associated high speed railway as examples, analyzes the train planning of EMUs, and has achieved satisfied results, which proves the validity of the method.
