The analysis of gear strength is the foundation of research in gears’high speed, high strength, long life, low noise and high reliability. So the research on static and dynamic characteristics of the gear engagement has some certain theoretical value and significance to improve the bearing capacity and dynamic performance. This paper mainly studies the content as follows:(1) The geometry model of the spur gears. According to the principles of gear connection and gear generating, accurate tooth profile was deduced and discretized by MATLAB. Importing full-text data to ANSYS and realizing the parametric finite element modeling of spur gear through APDL finally.(2) The calculation of spur gear’s root stress. Through the Hertz contact stress, and principles of gear connection, converting the gear surface load equivalent to the line uniformly distributed load and the Hertz face uniformly distributed load, then static equivalent analysis and static contact analysis of different meshing points were done. It was concluded that the tooth root bending stress’s change rule. The strength analysis of dynamic contact and the calculation of dynamic contact force, dynamic contact stress and tooth root bending stress in meshing process were done basing on the software of ANSYS/LS-DYNA. The result showed that there is a strong impact in the moment of meshing into, Contact stress and root bending stress are volatile. The dynamic contact force is proportional to the speed.(3) The test of spur gear’root stress. Based on the comprehensive performance test-bed and LabVIEW integrated system gathering test data of rotation speeds, torques and tooth root dynamic strain by the wireless data collection technology. Research shows that, the rule of root bending strain of the test is similar to the theoretic. The impact of meshing into and out plays a leading role at low load.Integrated simulation and experimental results show that root bending stress’s numerical sizes of the test, static equivalent analysis, static contact analysis and analytic solutions are roughly same. The trend of root bending stress of dynamic contact strength analysis is also roughly same to the test. All show that the methods and results of the test and simulation are accurate, scientific and practical. They have reference significance and certain guiding significance in gear’s further research.
