With rapidly application of space technology development, harmonic gear transmission is a kind of widely used mechanical transmission, many of its features generally can’t be matched by the other transmission structures. Both transmission precision, transmission error and transmission efficiency are the important performance index to measure the harmonic gear transmission. The scholars from domestic and foreign do research on transmission precision more deeply, but less study on transmission efficiency. This article mainly introduces the method of calculating the efficiency of different tooth harmonic gear drive, and compared their transmission performance.First, obtain the profile of flexspline and rigid gear o f the involute tooth profile and the C TC(circle arc-tangent line-circle arc) tooth through the envelope method and coordinate transformation, receive drive meshing movement and the meshing state simulation of two different kinds of tooth harmonic gear by using Matlab software, verify whether there exists meshing interference, acquire the theoretical meshing arc length,tooth logarithm, and the meshing clearance by calculation.Then, select the appropriate structure form of flexspline and rigid gear and wave generator, select appropriate parameters and calculate out their geometry size, get the simplified wave generator model, the model of flexspline and rigid gear through Pro/E software. At the same time, the stress and fatigue strength of flexspline are analyzed in theory. On the basis of theoretical theory, work out the distribution regularity of stress, strain and deformation of two different kinds of flexspline tooth profile by finite element software.Finally, this paper introduces the traditional ca lculation formula of the harmonic gear transmission efficiency. On that basis, obtain the calculation method of wave generator friction loss and tooth contact frictional loss, analyzes the various factors which affects transmission efficiency, put forward the method to improve the transmission efficiency, compare two different tooth profile of the harmonic gear transmission efficiency through example calculation, provides certain reference value about how to accurately calculate the transmission efficiency of harmonic gear transmission.
