Taking the pond water beside hunan university jixian hotel as source water.the problems of the lateral flow sand filer as intake technology,s treatment effect and mechanism of removal pollutants in micro-polluted water were studied in this paper.It was discussed start-up methods and analyzed the factors affecting start-up.It was also respectively analyzed the removal efficiency of turbidity, organic matters, ammonia nitrogen and NO2--N under low turbidity and high turbidity conditions and discussed the factors such as temperature and filter speed affenting pollutant removal.It was analyzed the change of out-flow in lateral flow sand filer.During the tests in start-up,because of the factors such as temperature and test device and so on, the removal rates of CODMn and ammonia nitrogen are not too high.in this test when the removal rates of CODMn and ammonia nitrogen are stable, it is namely considered start-up success.Furthermore,several affecting factors of start-up test have been analyzed which are water temperature, packing types, raw water quality and the air/water ratio and so on.The results show:In low turbidity conditions, for micro-polluted source water the lateral flow sand filter intake technology can remove various pollutants effectively.The average removal rates of turbidity, CODMn, ammonia nitrogen, NO2--N and UV254are35.05%、16.38%、35.51%、24.09%and12.19%,respectively,The factor of water temperature is analyzed in the paper, the arise of water temperature is conducive to the treatment effect of lateral flow sand filter; Under high turbidity conditions, the removal rates of turbidity, CODMn, ammonia nitrogen, NO2--N and UV254can reach67.03%to95.16%、5.98%to22.26%、43.65%to60.18%、37.98%to68.81%and10.65%to20.90%,respectively, the factors such as water temperature and filter speed are analyzed in the paper, the arise of water temperature and filter speed is also conducive to the treatment effect of lateral flow sand filter.After backwash filter speed of filter layer in the lateral flow sand filer is change, with low turbidity raw water the change of out-flow is slow.while under high turbidity raw water it is great. After backwash it observes the change of filter speed. the filter speed sharply decreases when it runned1d after backwash, the next2d was stable while the4th days it appeard further decline. From the above, the lateral flow sand filer intake technology as biological pretreatment process has certain treatment effect of removal pollutants in micro-polluted water, its filtering cycle has extended.This test was optimized to provide valuable experimental data for the design and operation of the lateral flow sand filer intake technology.
