With the rapid development of economy, the growth of population and the huge and theprogress of the society, the value of energy is more and more important around the World.Oscillating buoys sometimes is classified as third generation devices in European. Because ofthe direct contact with the structure and wave, the devices with high efficiency can work indeep water (typically more than40m water depth). The Paper deal with the hydraulic physicalmodel tests. The study on wave energy converting which converts the up-and-down motioninto unidirectional rotation is carried out.The study based on experiments firstly deals with the cylindrical buoy. The hydraulicphysical model test analyses the generated power of the cylindrical buoy with the differencesof diameter、volume of displacement、submerged depth、the wave height and the wave period. The test gets the relationship between the above factors. The wave height is more difficultthan the wave period on the generated power. In the experimental investigation of the wedge-buoy, it is found that the wedge-buoy isbetter than the cylindrical buoy on the energy capturing effect. In the wave energy conversion, the paper calculates the first energy conversion rates. The rates reduce along with the growthof the wave height and the wave period without the effect of the problem of the setup and thesensitive period. In the sensitive period, the first energy conversion is lower than others. The study based on previous studies, analyses the generated power and thehydrodynamic performance through experimental investigations, which lays afoundation to the further use of the device.
