Vehicle’s cab is not only the workplace of driver but also an importantpart of vehicle, and the performance of it exerts a direct influence on vehicleperformance. The cab should provide a comfortable workplace to drivers, andprotects them from suffering the vibration influence caused by the excitationof vibration sources during driving, vibration sources include engine vibration, pavement irregularity, and so on. Resonance will be induced if the frequencyof exciting force approaching the natural frequency of the cab. Owing to thehigh dynamic stress induced by resonance, the fatigue failure of cab structurewill be easily produced, with fewer service life of the cab, and the ridingcomfort will also be reduced. Therefore, it is very important that the naturalfrequency of the cab can be avoided to coincidence with the outside excitationfrequency in the cab structural designing process. With the development of computer technology, finite element analysisand benchmarking analysis method are widely used in the vehicle structuralanalysis. In this paper, the light truck cab finite element analysis model isestablished based on the finite element theory according to the geometricmodel of light truck cab, and the first10ranks natural frequency of the cabstructure and its modal shape are calculated, and finally the finite elementanalysis results and the model are verified to be correct and effective byexperiment modal test of the cab. On this basis, the modal testing of the lighttruck benchmarking cab is conducted, and the modal performance of thesample vehicle and benchmarking vehicle cab are analyzed by benchmarkinganalysis method. The advantage of the benchmarking vehicle cab on modalperformance is analyzed. The optimization objective based on the cabstructure is determined and the improvement scheme is proposed, which canprovide valuable experience for the improvement designing of cabs.
