Now railway works develop quickly in china, the sixth passenger train speed lifting is going to be carried out. So performance of high-speed trains becomes so important, and performance of trains is represented by the carriage bodies. But we know little about these. It needs to be researched carefully. To this question, the scientific department of railway ministry raised the item 'Research of Modal Testing and Evaluating Standards about Passenger Car Bodies (2003J041)' in 2003, in order to giving the evaluating standard according with the situation of our country. This article is a sub task of the whole item, studying modal analysis of car bodies using numerical simulation and test-bed experimentation. It is useful for the general item. There are two parts in this article:1) Numerical Simulation: Based on the AutoCAD two-dimension drawings of a YZ25G passenger car body, this thesis establishes a three-dimension finite element model of this body using the large CAD/CAE/CAM software 'I-DEAS', researches the difficulties in model building; studies the influences and different simulation methods of different parts; then gives some suggestions for our modal testing by the modal computing; and last solves the modal sensitivities of body performance, it is useful for design of high-speed passenger cars.2) Research of Testing: Takes part in two modal testing about car bodies by test-bed method. Then based on a test-bed modal examination of a 25T stainless steel car body, researched the testing principles, exciting methods, layout of sensors etc, then compared the results with simulation outcomes. This article researches the numerical simulation and testing of railway car bodies in detail, all these have a good help for research of car body modality, ensures the process of the whole item.
