As a kind of regional special soil, the engineering geological properties research ofcohesive soil containing calcareous nodules in Huaibei Plain needs to be strengthened.Based on geological investigation,survey and in situ test, the regional distribution andgeological features of cohesive soil containing calcareous nodules in Huaibei Plain aredescribed. This paper firstly analysises the particle size distribution of cohesive soilcontaining calcareous nodules by using granule analysis test,and discusses the fractalcharacteristics by using fractal theory,the results prove evolution characteristics of cohesivesoil containing calcareous nodules indirectly;Secondly, many groups of large direct sheartests on original and remodeling samples are carried out,the effection of fractalcharacteristics,water content and particle size distribution on strength of cohesive soilcontaining calcareous nodules are discussed.As a result of the large shear strength test,stress and the strain of the characteristics of the special soil are analysised,the applicabilityof using Duncan-Chang model describes the constitutive characteristics of ohesive soilcontaining calcareous nodules are discussed;Thirdly, PFC2D program is used to simulatethe stress and displacement response in large direct shear strength of clay,sand and cohesivesoil containing calcareous,the stress transmission path is discussed.
