Out-patient departments are important part in hospitals. The design of out-patient department will play the key role for the whole hospital and we must research into this field deeply and extensively.With the development of our society,requirement from people toward medical care and medical environment have been changing.Furthermore,medical technology and equipments have been develpoed greatly.In this study,investigation of Out-patient service unit and theories are connected, and thinking in the way of finding question, analyze question and advance countermeasure,try to make the study more pertient and efficient.We analyzed the current situations of designs of Out-patient service unit of general hospitals in China,though the compare of typical cases,into the factors connected with the development in the past days.I use a method of pattern language to do the research for general hospital.This article is based on systemic characteristic about the Out-patient departments,make use of a way about Apattern Language of Christopher Alexander,be tried to create a Humanistic Language for the design of Out-patient departments in large-scale urban hospitals in China. According to analysis of some choosing elements one by one,Ihope this language will be able to work as a reference and alleviate the repetition in the future architecture design of Out-patient departments.This paper also research into those factors which influences the developmen of medicine,such as social conditions,technical conditions,social requirement and so on.On this base this paper discusses new concepts and trends for contemporary out-patient department design.Together with the analysis of real projects,this paper sumsup these concepts and trends as direction for later practices in hospital design.
