A quartz-flex accelerometer is an inertial instrument to measure the acceleration of its support. With the wide application of quartz-flex accelerometer, the requirement of higher performance index is usually proposed by its auxiliary systems. To fulfill the maneuverability of tactical weapons, the measurement range of quartz-flex is of great importance.Based on the structure、theory and mechanics model of the quartz flexible accelerometer (QFA), the paper analyses the key factors which affect its range such as dimension/mass/stiffness symmetry, circuit sensitivity, output capability and heat value etc.Analysis results show that the oscillation of the pendulum mass to the air film is one of the main factors which affect the range of quartz-flex accelerometer and to restrict the oscillation must improve the binding force of flexible support. The other factors affecting the quartz-flex are the current scale factor-Ig and average magnetic induction intensity. As the nominal coefficient of current is in inverse ratio to the accelerometer range when the circuit ability is constant, the ideal idea is to decrease the current nominal coefficient.To reduce current scale factor-Ig and increasing restricted force of flex supporting to eliminate angular oscillation, the paper analyses techniques by decreasing the pendulum mass、adopting high magnetic intensity materia、increasing stiffness of the swing cantilever by simulations.Test results which attain by the calibration test equipment invented here and lots of precision centrifugation experiments of quartz-flex accelerometer on the module equations coefficients, stability, temperature coefficient, threshold, resolution, error angle of install, frequency bandwidth make the conclusion:reducing the current scaling factor-Ig and increasing the restricted force of flex is helpful to improve the range of quartz flexible accelerometer in engineer.
