The right branch cable-stayed bridge of Ma Anshan Changjiang River highwaybridge is beautiful and its biggest bright spot is the design of the arch-tower, theshape of the which is rarely seen both at home and abroad. The mechanicalbehavior of the arch tower is what the engineers concern about. Relying on thedesign proposal of the right branch cable-stayed bridge of Ma Anshan ChangjiangRiver highway bridge, the paper carries out the research on the1:10model test ofthe arch tower structure and its theory for the first time both at home and abroad.The chief contents are as follows:(1) Introducing the design, loading case, loading system, layout of measuringpoints and test devices of the arch tower model test on the bases of the testsimilarity theory.(2) Making use of the ANSYS modeling method, the finite elementcomputational model of1:10arch tower test structure is established and accordingto the calculations of which, the detailed analyses of the respective strain,deformation rules and crack distributions of the test arch tower when it is under thebelow three test conditions: longest cantilever construction stage, serviceabilitylimit states and ultimate state of load carrying capacity are given.(3) Analyzing the mechanical behavior of arch tower and comparing it withtheoretical calculating value on the basis of the cable force test value, thelongitudinal force reinforced strain test values, the concrete surface strain testvalues and the crack deformation observations of1:10arch tower model test.(4) Analyzing the temperature effect of the middle tower of Ma AnshanChangjiang River highway bridge with the application of the temperature gradientprovisions of girder as stated in the current code.
