The solenoid valve is a kind of automatic valve which can complete the opening andclosing operation by electromagnetic force. The self-holding type solenoid valve with singlestable permanent magnetic actuator has the advantages of small size, sensitive and reliableperformance, so it’s widely used in automatic control system as gas or liquid flow controlvalve. As an important part of self-holding type solenoid valve, the performance ofelectromagnetic system directly affects the level of working quality of the entireelectromagnetic valve, so its performance analysis and structural optimization has importanttheoretical significance and practical value.In this paper, a particular model self-holding type solenoid valve is studied byexperiment and simulation methods. The main tasks are as follows:Primarily, a3-D finite element model of the electromagnetic system in the solenoid valvewas established by the APDL language in ANSYS. Then, static electromagnetic force actingon the moving core and the coil inductance was calculated at rated voltage. Moreover, thestatic characteristics was analyzed, and the coordination between static electromagnetic forceand reaction force was studied.Secondly, experiments of pull-in process of the moving core in solenoid valve wereperformed by building a circuit, a relationship between coil current and time was obtainedfrom the oscilloscope, then simulation and experimental results were compared to verify thecorrectness of the model.Finally, the self-holding type solenoid valve was optimized, with the height of thepermanent magnet, coil turns, height of static core and height of the inner sleeve as designvariables. Based on a great number of simulation and calculation, a satisfied result wasgotten,which increased static electromagnetic force in initial position and improved thereliability of the system.
