With the development of computer technology and servo technology, the electronic CAMis more and more applied to manufacturing production. Rotary Knife is one of the importantapplications with electronic CAM. In essence, Electronic CAM is to realize the CAMfunction by computer, usually it includes both hardware and software. For hardware, nowmany controllers has offered complete electronic CAM solutions,the user just need to enterthe CAM curve, so the design of CAM curve has an important effect on the realization ofelectronic CAM function. As the CAM can achieve continuous cutting and greatly enhancedthe production efficiency, so it will make vital significance to research electronic CAM.Contrasting the domestic and foreign development present situation, and combining withactual production requirements, this paper focused on the design of electronic CAM curve onthe basis of the analysis of the electronic CAM system and its design method.Firstly, the paper introduced the system structure of the electronic CAM as a whole,made a detailed illustration about measuring unit of encoder and analyzes methods and mainpoints of electronic CAM design. Secondly, the paper analysed the design method of CAMcurve, via the analysis of dimensionless characteristic value of the curve, chose fivepolynomial to design Electronic CAM curve, and according to the definition ofNondimensionalization, derived the Nondimensionalization calculation formula for followedElectronic CAM curve. Then, using the above formula, designed five polynomial part of thestart, circulation and stop electronic CAM curve, and gave the detailed description to solvethe long material cutting reversals critical value, accelerated starting point and decelerated endpoint in start, stop and long material cutting, on this basis, designed complete start, circulationand stop electronic CAM curve by sectioning.Finally, using the above algorithm, developed DSP software and designed interpolationprograms using the timer function. Besides, designed a set of simulation system for electronicCAM curve design suitable for different requirements using MATLAB GUI. At last, realizedcollaborative design of DSP and MATLAB by CCSLink.
