China has big potential in the exploitation and utilization of solar energy. Using solarenergy as heat source of building heating is the trend of energy saving and emissionreduction. This paper gives a detailed introduction to the working principle andcharacteristic of porous solar wall heating room, discusses relevant research advances inhome and aboard, then originates a new porous solar wall heating room system based onthe design of Ouyang Li’s porous solar wall heating room. The system has outstandingheating capability demonstrated by a series of experiments in winter where the ambienttemperature is lower than12℃: room temperature raises at least8℃under solar radiationequals to400W/m~2. Porous solar wall heating room supplies not only heating capability,but also provides low temperature different, slow flow speed as well as good comfortperformance in the room; Large amount of using porous ceramics and glass structure isbeneficial for receiving the solar radiation. The existence of fresh wind assures the airquality in the room.After examined the heating performance, this paper goes one step further, offering twooptimized design methods:(1) applying solar chimney (2) introducing double layer poroussolar wall heating room.Porous solar wall heating room induces flow by using flow fan. Owing to cutting offutilization of electricity, this paper suggests to apply a solar chimney at the north edge ofthe heating room. To achieve the air in the chimney being heated constantly, the chimneyreceives solar radiation from the south side, which other sides are constructed by materialswith.thermal storage capacity surrounding by heat insulated layer. Due to the buoyancyeffect, air in the solar chimney is heated, thus the air density decreases which causes thedriving force. After comprehensive consideration of heating capability, room temperaturedifference and air flow performance, this paper shows that the optimized shape of chimneyis a rectangular with cross-section area equals to5×200cm~2.For enhancing the space utilization, this paper analyzes the temperature raise,temperature difference and air flow for various inlet velocity of the double layer porous solar wall heating room. The results shows that under certain range, the lower the inletspeed is, the higher the heating capability is. For the same condition, heating effect for firstflour is better than that for second flour obviously; Inside each flour, the system has lowtemperature difference, slow flow speed as well as good comfort performance. Theoptimized inlet velocity is0.9m/s.
