Traffic accident reconstruction is one of the most important fields oftraffic safety research. In this area, pedestrian-vehicle accident is a hot spot,and its social and academic attention is still rising. The driver is an importantparticipant in the traffic system, but most of the study on pedestrian-vehicleaccident in the past emphasis on the dynamics model of vehicleand pedestrian,pedestrian motion parameters, finite element analysis, etc. Driver’semergency response, including the driver’s reaction velocity, steering angle,steering force, braking force, and so on, relates to the vehicle motion directlyin the process of the accident. The vehicle instantaneous velocity, brakingdeceleration, steering angle, pedestrian-vehicle relative distance,pedestrian-vehicle relative velocity, and so on, are directly related to whetherthe traffic accidents occurred or not and the damage degree it costs.Thisarticle intend to reveal the characters of drivers’ behavior of emergencyresponse, by the drivers’ behavior of driving simulation in the state ofemergency and the ideal state, providing reference for pedestrian-vehicletraffic accident reconstruction and for the improvement of active safetystrategy.In order to study the driver’s emergency response, this article based onthe driving simulator set up a side-impact accident driver’s emergencyresponse simulation platform. The platform is based on the driving simulatorfor hardware, combined with the scene modeling software and the roadvehicle control programming software and a variety of software-based hybridsimulation platform. The software to Multigen Creator as the main body,combined with a real accident data, established a static scene model for atypical vehicle and side-impact accident, including the static environment ofbuildings, roads, buffer zone, street trees, street lights, road signs and otherelements; PathCreator or programming as the main body,established a dynamic model based on the roads and driveways in the static sceneconstraints,to control the motion parameters of the dynamic vehicles on theroad, pedestrian trajectories and instantaneous velocity. The hardware to thedriving simulator as the main body, loading and running the dynamic andstatic software model, calculate the instantaneous velocity of the vehicle,theinstantaneous angular velocity, steering angular velocity, steering angularacceleration and other vehicle motion parameters through the driver’soperation and feedback to the driver through actual movement of thesimulator, to study the driver of emergency response in the fixed people andvehicles side-impact accident scene.Based on drivers’ emergency response simulation platform, designed andcarried out drivers’ emergency response simulation.Experiments to the realintersection people and vehicles in traffic accident case in Beijing as areference, set up a people and vehicles side-impact accident scenario model,and accurately control the same accident trigger conditions throughprogramming methods. By comparing the drivers’ emergency responseparameters in the ideal state and emergency state, analyze the overall trend ofthe emergency response and the characteristics of each stage. Meanwhile,combining the driver’s age, driving experience, educational background,analyze the driver’s personal factors and their emergency response.
