With sustained growth of the national economy and accelerated process of the course ofmodernization, the state pays more and more attention to petrochemicals, steel, infrastructure,etc. Crane industry is the corresponding rapid development. Because of varying degrees ofshock and vibration impacts in the course of their work, knock-on effects on the mechanicalstructure of a variety of dynamic load must be considered in the design of lifting machinery,dynamic design methods is used to design the lifting machinery.The finite element theory has become more mature and more perfect; the applications offinite element analysis in crane structure analysis and optimization design have been spread.This paper research the finite element theory, the mechanical vibration theory, computer aidedengineering and CAE analysis methods, on the basis of summarizing the experience ofpractical engineering of gantry crane structure, to establish a reasonable finite element model,in order to achieve a relatively accurate analysis results, In this paper, the primary missions asfollows:1. According to the truss gantry crane’s structure, appropriate simplifying it, andestablishing finite element model which can accurately reflects actual situation.2. Through the modal analysis on the structure of gantry crane with the Block Lanczosmethod, the first10natural frequencies and vibration modes are calculated when the trolleywith full load is in the middle of the span.3. Through the transient response analysis with the FULL method, the displacement,velocity and acceleration time history in the middle of the span are calculated when the trolleywith full load is in the middle of the span.4. The optimization design of main girder is carried out by the optimal toolbox ofANSYS software. The weight of main girders is reduced by33.84percent after optimization,reaching the purpose of reducing weight.
