| The asphalt is one kind of heat absorption material. The high absorption rate to solarradiation is the main reason that the temperature of asphalt pavement is much higher than theair temperature in summer. From this it initiates two harms: first, the high temperature bringsabout the bearing capacity of asphalt pavement decreasing, causing that the asphalt pavementemerges serious rut; second, the high temperature of urban road’s asphalt pavement intensifiesthe “heat island effectâ€. According to the above-mentioned harms caused by high temperature,the development of significant cooling effect and cost-effective’s solar heat-reflective coatingsof asphalt pavement is the solution to rut and “heat island effectâ€. At the same time it reducesthe investment costs of asphalt pavement construction and improves the life quality of urbanresidents.First, the endothermic behavior of asphalt pavement and its influencing factors areanalyzed, and the cooling mechanism of solar heat-reflective coatings is proposed based onthe domestic and overseas’ research information in this paper. Second, the scientific andreasonable composition design’s parameter determining steps of solar heat-reflective coatingsare proposed after the composition design’s target defined and the influencing factors ofpavement performance considered: the optimum dosage of curing agent to film former, thePVC and the mass ratio of diluents to film former are determined successively. Third, thesolar heat-reflective coatings of different proportions and different colors are testedapplying of home-made indoor cooling test system. The results showed that the critical PVCis about50.7%and the red solar heat-reflective coatings’ cooling performance is the best ofall. At the same time the other pavement performances are tested, such as the anti-slipperformance, the durability and the construction workability of solar heat-reflective coatings.The results showed that the pavement performances of solar heat-reflective coatings are inline with expectations. Finally, the evaluation method of pavement performances is studiedand a comprehensive, accurate evaluation method is proposed. This evaluation method couldbecome a reference to the in-depth study, large-scale production and construction of solarheat-reflective coatings in future. |
