In addition to the traffic axle load and environmental factors, the unreasonable bridgedeck pavement structural design which caused the lack of the mechanical strength of thepavement structure is the most fundamental reason of initial disease for bridge deck pavement.In order to solve the initial disease problems of pavement fundamentally, it’s needed todetermine some reasonable mechanical design indicators aiming at the mechanicalmechanism of the most principle pavement diseases and conduct the mechanical design forbridge deck pavement structure. Therefore, the concrete box girder was taked for example inthis paper to study on the structural mechanics design methods and interlayer performanceevaluation methods of concrete bridge deck pavement. The study result will guide thepavement structure design, material selection, construction quality control and performanceevaluation.Firstly, the most important disease types of concrete bridge deck pavement wereinvestigated and summarized in this paper, which mechanical formation mechanism wasanalyzed. Based on the aim of controlling diseases occurrence, four mechanical designindicators of the bridge deck pavement were proposed: the maximum shear stress in thepavement τc, the maximum tensile stress in the pavement σc, the maximum interlaminarnormal tensile stress σmand the maximum interlaminar shear stress τm.Secondly, the influences law of the box girder key structural parameters as the roofthickness hc, the beam rib height hband the horizontal clapboard spacing b on the mechanicaldesign indicators of the pavement system was analyzed with the three-dimensional finiteelement model which was loaded at the most unfavorable load locations. The pavementmaterial parameters and geometric parameters of the bridge structure which have a significantimpact on the mechanical response of pavement system were summaried and proposed. Theseparameters were taked as the design parameters of the pavement structure. Orthogonalnumerical experiments under different design parameter combination were designed toanalysis the load response of mechanical design indicators. Empirical formulas of the fourdesign specifications were proposed by regression analysis and taked for statistics inspectionto verify its significant level. Then, the calculation methods of allowable stress for design specifications of bridge deckpavement were proposed by road design specifications and indoor test rule. The concretebridge deck asphalt pavement structural mechanics design method was proposed based on therequirements of controlling mechanical design specifications. The design method was used todesign pavement structure of actual project by design information.Finally, by the analysis of the formation mechanism of performance between bridge deckpavement structure layers, inter-layer performance evaluation indicators and evaluationcriteria were proposed and the related test equipment was designed. Testing methods ofperformance between deck pavement structure layers and the test results discount method ofreliability was proposed. The evaluation method of performance between the bridge deckpavement structure layers was summed up.
