AC contactors are widely used in low-voltage control system. With the development of thenational economy and the growth of the power industry, the demand to AC contactor willcontinue to grow, so it put forward higher requirements to AC contactor. Auxiliary contacts ofAC contactor can access in control circuit and output control signals. To satisfy the needs ofdifferent users, AC contactor with different auxiliary contacts came into being. The dynamiccharacteristics of the AC contactor with different auxiliary contacts are different, which decidethe reliable operation of AC contactor, so it is significant to study the dynamic characteristics ofAC contactor with auxiliary contact modules.The paper chooses AC contactor with auxiliary contacts as the research object, and it usesa combination of ANSYS and ADAMS to study the closing process simulation and dynamiccharacteristics of the contactor.Firstly, a3D model of all parts of actuating mechanism of AC contactor and auxiliarycontacts is improved using the Pro/ENGINEER software, and then assemble various parts intofive different models: AC contactor without auxiliary contact, AC contactor with1open1closed auxiliary contacts, AC contactor with2open2closed auxiliary contacts, AC contactorwith3open1closed auxiliary contacts, AC contactor with4open auxiliary contacts. Then themodels are leaded inADAMS through the special interfaces MECH/PRO and further improved.Secondly, constraints and electromagnetic force calculated by ANSYS software are addedin ADAMS software models. Two different current curves are obtained, one of which issimulation curve and the other is experimented curve. Comparasion of them is done to vertifythe correctness of the work. After analyzing the simulation results, the impacts of voltage andclosing phase angle in closing process of AC contactor with different auxiliary contact moduleare concluded. Also the impacts of different auxiliary contacts in time characteristics and speedcharacteristics ofAC contactor’s closing process are analyzed and concluded.
