As problems that energy shortage and environment pollution become serious day andday, renewable energy generation such as wind power generation and solar powergeneration becomes an effective solution. Because of its characteristic such asmature-technology, low-cost, rich-store and free-pollution, wind power becomes thepriority selection between renewable energies, and large-scale integration of wind powerbecomes a global trend of wind power development. However, due to its stochastic,variable, unpredictable, bi-directional peak load regulation and low-dispatchable nature,its large-scale integration will bring great challenges to safe operation and optimalplanning of power system.At the beginning of the paper, related research of middle-long term operation ofpower system is introduced, and builds the probabilistic model of wind power output formiddle-long term operation, and also presents indices of stochastic energy not suppliedand stochastic wind energy spillage due to its stochastic nature to asses the affection ofwind power to the middle-long term operation characteristic. Then, a methodology formiddle-long term operation simulation of power system with large-scale wind power ispresented based on the probabilistic model of wind power, the model takes into accountthe effects on system reliability and energy efficiency from randomicity of wind power. Atlast, research on the peak load regulation of power system with wind power is conducted.For the random nature of wind power, a peak load regulation capacity requirement modelfor wind power is established, which illustrates the effects for peak load regulationcapacity of power system from wind power. Based on the peak load regulation capacityrequirement model for wind power, a model for economy evaluation of peak loadregulation of power system is proposed. The proposed methodology for middle-long termoperation simulation of power system with large-scale wind power manage stochasticcharacteristic effectively, and supply an effective solution to middle-long term operationof practical power system, in addition, the evaluation method for peak load regulation canprovide guidance for planning of peak load regulation sources of power system withlarge-scale wind power.
