Compared with conventional energy resources, wind power is renewable, low cost and eco-friendly. Nowadays capacity of wind power is growing larger and larger, and the impacts that larger capacity of wind power connected into grid usually draw people’s attention. Wind power penetration is a factor that designers must consider when planning and building wind farm, still, it’s very important for designers to solve the wind power penetration of a grid and have a knowledge of the influence factors of wind power penetration. This thesis mainly study on the constraints and influence factors of wind power penetration, then finally conclude a general method of researching on the wind power penetratioaFirstly, relevant concepts of peak-load regulation, conventional energy resources and the character of wind power’s peak-load regulation are represented, and the process of solving wind power penetration on the constraint of peak-load regulation is analyzed. The process of solving peak-load regulation not enough probability via non-sequential Monte Carlo simulation is analyzed, and the program of solving peak-load regulation not enough probability is programmed by Matlab. A method of using P-V curve to calculate wind power penetration under the constraint of static stability is described, and the process of calculating wind power penetration under the constraint of transient stability is concluded.Secondly, steady state model of three kinds of widely-used wind generators and their transient stabilities were described, and the load flow calculation programs of them were programmed by VC++6.0, then embedded in PSASP via PSASP/UPI. Some commonly-used dynamic reactive power compensation equipments were represented, and some concepts about short circuit capacity and the impacts that different wind farm’s operation mode bring on were analyzed.Then, a grid model is built under the platform of PSASP, and divided into four areas. Four areas’ wind power penetrations on the constraints of peak-load regulation, static stability and transient stability were calculated, and by four influence factors being analyzed, the importance of the four influence factors and the relationship between3constraints were concluded, and finally a normal way to study on wind power penetration is given.Finally, all the research results of this thesis are summarized. The prospect about the issues needed to be improved and related research topics are also presented.
