With the increasingly serious energy crisis and environmental problemsbrought by the consumption of large quantities of fossil fuels, people areconstantly looking for new energy supply systems and energy storage devices.In recent years, research and development of new energy such as solar, wind andenergy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors have beenwidely used.This paper is mainly about Preparation and Application Research ofActivated Carbons-based Supercapacitor. This paper first characterized theactivated carbon, then prepared symmetric buttons capacitor which use theactivated carbon as electrode material. A series of tests were done to the buttonscapacitors to analysis of the impact of the structure of the activated carbonsmaterial on the capacitor performance. In this paper, the theoretical models ofsupercapacitors are studied, the application features of supercapacitors weremanifested in the constant current, constant current limiting charge anddischarge process. The capacitance value of the supercapacitor such asequivalent series resistance, equivalent parallel resistance and other parameterswere calculated, the impact of charge and discharge current, outside temperatureon the capacitance value and internal resistance of the supercapacitor wasanalysis, finally the cycle life of supercapacitors was tested.After studied the characteristic of supercapacitors, this paper designed anemergency light with supercapacitors as energy storage devices and developedthe control circuit of it. A series of tests were carried out to the emergencylights, the experiment results show that the supercapacitors performed well asenergy storage device of the emergency lights.In traditional stand-alone PV system, the lead-acid batteries are used asenergy storage devices, because the lead-acid batteries are cheap and mature,etc.. However, there are many shortcomings, such as the charging current can’tbe too large and too small, short life, maintaining expensive, over depth ofdischarge life is severely shortened. This paper designed supercapacitors and battery hybrid energy storage system solutions for stand-alone PV system, thendeveloped the stand-alone PV control system. The test results show that theintroduction of supercapacitor can improve the utilization of solar panels andthe life of battery.Based on the excellent discharge characteristics of the supercapacitor, thispaper studied the discharge characteristics when supercapacitor used withlead-acid batteries in parallel. Experiment results show that the supercapacitorcan effectively reduce the impact of high-power pulse discharge on the battery,so when used in vehicle supercapacitors can improve the output performanceand extend the battery life.
