Due to the differences among the geological origin、ground stratified conditions、thethickness of the soft soil ground、heterogeneity and distribution、location and condition of thebearing stratum、physical and mechanical properties of the ground soil, the settlementcharacteristics in the area of inland rivers and lakes are significantly different from marinesoft soil ground. With the highway construction gradually developed into the inland areas, it isnecessary to make further study on the settlement of the soft soil ground in the area of inlandrivers and lakes. Depending on geological and the actual settlement data in preloading periodof the connection section of Yellow River Bridge from Jiaozuo to Gongyi, this paper makessystematic discussion on the settlement of the soft soil ground in the area of inland rivers andlakes. The main content of this paper includes the following3points:1. On the basis of the relevant data which are measured during the preloading period, settlement after construction is predicted. Four methods including hyperbolic method、Hoshino method、Asaoka method and Verhulst curve method are used to predict thesettlement, then the results and applicability are compared.2. By the finite element analysis software ABAQUS, based on the engineering geologicaldata, appropriate parameters are selected and four layers of ground model is built: hard shelllayer-soft soil layer-coarse layer-soft soil layer. The impact of the hard shell layer thicknessand modulus、coarse layer thickness and modulus on the settlement and vertical stressdistribution of the ground are analyzed.3. Using the ABAQUS to build four layers of ground, considering the impact of thethickness and modulus of each layer on the ground settlement, an orthogonal experiment tablewhich includes eight factors and three levels is built. By the test, the settlement value of eachgroup test can be reached by finite element method. Then using the stratified summationmethod to calculate the settlement of each group, the ratio of the two methods are calculated.By the multiple linear regression method, sedimentation coefficient relation formula with thethickness and modulus of each layer is built. Finally, a numerical example is verified and theformula is reasonable.
