Study On The Appraisal Method Of The Pavement Mixture Segregation

Pavement materials segregation has an serious impact on the service life of the road,however the evaluation of material particles uniformity is always the problem of the roadresearch filed. Due to the test equipment and methods are different, the evaluation methods ofsegregation have their advantages and disadvantages. Among them, the digital imageprocessing technology, has simple equipment, low cost and more reasonable results, so moreand more attentions drew by people to it. However, when people analyze the degree ofsegregation using the image processing technology, most of them consider it from content andgradation this ignores the particles of different distribution conditions.Based on image processing technology as the foundation, see the coordinates of particlesas the object, proposed variance grid method, matlab method and triangle area method to judgethe uniformity degree of the particle size distribution, combined with the continuousaccumulation uniform distribution and variance. At the same time, calculate a fewhand-painted pictures with obviously different uniformity degree with the above methods, todetermine their feasibility.Road materials are hybrid materials, which contain different particle size of eachaggregate, so we must isolate the images of particles with different size. And using each fileof the aggregate area divided by total area as weight, then using the methods to calculate eachaggregate respectively and last put different size particles evenness in weighted average. Workout the results as the uniformity degree of the whole image.Apply the evaluation method to the actual application of the project. Put three groupswith different uniform degree of mixed aggregate into three containers, the CT scanner is usedto scan the three specimens, and identify the key section. Process the key section in binaryimage and segmentation, pick up the needed particle image, and use above methods to judgetheir uniform degree.
