It is found that the frequency of accidents in tunnel exit section which hasbecome the dark spot of tunnel zone is as much as entrance by way of sorting outand summarizing433tunnel accidents.the most important reason of accidents intunnel exit section is that the huge illumination difference between inside andoutside of the tunnel exit and the bad lighting environment failed to create theenvironment suitable for driving which led to the emergence of physical and mentaldriver identification and reaction barriers by In-depth analysis of the cause ofaccident. high lighting cost because of the conservative design of the existing tunnellighting parameters has been the shackle of the tunnel development via investigatingsome domestic tunnels,study on tunnel lighting especially the optimization of tunnelexit lighting parameter has important practical significance and project value.Setting reasonable lighting parameters of tunnel exit,on the one hand,makes a good convergence between the internal illumination of tunnel exit and the natural environment illumination outside of tunnel exit,does not affect the visual function in the process of the driver acrossing the tunnel,well in line with the driver’s visual adaptation law,to achieve that the psychological and visual of driver have no loadinside andoutside of tunnel and ensure vehicle safe,on the other handalleviates the problem ofhigh tunnel lighting cost effectively.The paper determines pupil,illumination,visual adaptation time as lighting opt-imization parameters of daytime tunnel exit section,based on the analysis to lightin-g characteristics of the daytime tunnel,driver’s visual characteristics,visual adaptationmechanism. a certain sample size of drivers are selected randomly for long tunnelexperiment on the freeway.The data of environmental illumination, the driver’svisual adaptation time and pupil area are collected with experiment instrument suchas Eyelink,illuminometer.The change rule of driver visual adaptation in the daytimetunnel exit section is analyzed with the establishment of a relevant mathematicalmodel by related data analysis method.the lighting parameters of the daytime tunnel exit section are optimized based on the principles of road safety and reducing energyconsumption,and lighting optimization is proposed according to the model,whichprovides theoretical research basis for tunnel lighting optimization.
