In the loess area highway widening engineering, new and old subgrade settlementdifferences is the main factor in roadbed disease development. Therefore, in view ofdifferences settlement in the loess area highway subgrade caused by gravity role, use indoorexperiment enough feet model, burying pressure box, the single point settlement plan andflexible displacement plan in the model, to research traits of different subsidence in the newand old roadbed and mechanism of geogrid in joining together parts; Based on enough feetmodel test, using finite element software ADINA, establish corresponding numericalsimulation model about different compression modulus and different filling height in new andold roadbed, to analyze the difference settlement characters of new and old subgrade, andcompare and analyze the calculated results and the measured data are. The main conclusionsare as follows:1. In the new and old roadbed basal parts, joining together in old and new subgrade andslope foot of new roadbed are the most easily to be destroied, should take reasonableprevention and control measures to protect the weak parts of the construction; The biggestdifference settlement of soil subgrade occurred in heart below position of the new widenedroadbed shape; The minimum amount of road surface subsidence occurred in the shoulder ofthe new widened the roadbed road; the effect of relieving soil subgrade different subsidenceto add the embedding geogrid in joining together of old and new roadbed is not obvious, butthe deformation of the soil subgrade verge to the agreement, in practical engineering, can’tone-sided emphasis on reinforcement materials in the new and old embankment.2. The settlement of old and new in joining together to broaden roadbed is the largest, thebiggest settlement of new roadbed happen in the shoulder, the simulation result alike the bigmodel test data;the influence in new widened roadbed modulus of different compressiondifferent subsidence of subgrade greater than old different roadbed modulus of influencedegree; the situations that the same width and the different height of subgrade filling in newbroaden, with the different filling height, different subsidence of maximum settlement curveto the subgrade lateral excursion.
