Fire accidents occurred frequently in the last few years, they broughtus not only property damage but also casualties. Therefore, it is crucial toknow the reasons and the responsibilities of the fire accidents. In a fireaccident, many traces left in the fire can be the important evidences forfire investigation. They can directly or indirectly indicate fire occurrencetime, fire position, fire causes and spread path of the fire. In fire accidents,carbon black trace is one of the most important on-site signs. Study on thenumerical simulation method for carbon black traces and its applicationswill be useful to fire accidents simulation. In this paper, one numericalsimulation method for carbon black traces is proposed and used in firenumerical reconstruction. It is proved that this method can improve theaccuracy, reliability and efficiency for fire numerical reconstruction.Based on the above ideas, the paper firstly builds a mathematicsmodel for carbon black trace. Let the particles deposition theory in fluidto be used to compute the deposition of carbon black particles in smoke,and deduct a mathematics model for carbon black particles.Then, According to this mathematics model, build a software modelto simulate the formula of carbon black trace with FORTRAN and C/C++language. This software model can be inserted to FDS software, thenformulate a new fire simulation system. This system can visually simulatethe formula of carbon black traces and do some useful quantitativeanalysis. The author uses this system to simulate the normal carbon blacktraces, compares these simulation traces to the real carbon black traces infire accidents, and identifies its validity and reliability.Finally, apply this system to a real room fire accident. TakeShanghai726fire accidents as an example, Simulate the whole process ofthe fire accident and its carbon black traces. Then set some measuringpoints to record quality values in the whole calculation process and do some research on this data to study the formula of carbon black traces.The visible simulation result further proves the system’s reliability.
