Machine always consists of many components,which results in alot of "mechanical joint surface". The dynamics of joint interface affectsthe vibration of the machine significantly. Contact stiffness and contactdamping are two typical parameters used to describe the dynamics of themechanical joint interface, and have always been the focus that scholarsconcern about.Surface texture technology is a surface treatment that machinesome regular grooves or pits on the surface of objects to change theirphysical properties. As an international research hotspot, texturetechnology has been used to improve the friction and wear of the surface,change the wetting capability of the surface, affect the fluid resistance,and so on. Moreover, some researches have shown that texture mayimpact the contact parameters. The purpose of this research is to explore the influence of texture oncontact stiffness and damping by experimentation. Firstly, this paperreviewed previous work on contact parameters and texture. Thenintroduced the principle of the experimental method, designed theexperimental platform and various testing samples, and then showed thecalibration of the experimental instruments. Based on these preparationshave been completed, experiments were conducted under differentexperimental conditions. The experimental data were analyzed toinvestigate the influence of normal load, lubricant, texture size and otherparameters on the contact stiffness and contact damping.Then considering the tangential contact interface, a tangentialexperimental device and corresponding texture samples were designed,the experiments were performed and the effects of tangential load,lubrication and other experimental conditions on the stiffness anddamping of tangential contact interface were discussed.The research proposed a measurement methodology of contactstiffness and damping, and experimentally investigated the influence oftexture on the dynamics parameter of joint interface. The research resultsare benefit to the joint interface design.
