Study On Measurement Technology For Digital Substation Merging Unit

As the increasing numbers of digital substations&intelligent substations inChina, the application of merging unit will be wildly spread. The second edition ofIEC61850has been already published, much relevant content about the merging unithas changed, and the technology specification on merging unit has been released either,the testing specification on merging unit is still under discussing. Considering theprominent importance of merging unit in substation operation， inspection&maintaining, the universal existence of compatibility&interoperability need ofdifferent equipments from different facilities corporations, the difficulty is enhanced insubstation operation, inspection, maintaining&debugging, but the operators&maintainers of the digital substation are lack of understanding of the characteristics&functions of the merging unit, especially the testing technology. So, they need to beguided by relevant testing specification&testing technology urgently.According to the international standards and specifications, this paper subdividesthe merging unit testing into5parts: digital transformer interface testing, data outputtesting, synchronizing function testing, configuration file testing&reliability testing,this paper summarizes the major testing parts of the merging unit, the testing proposal,the testing data of the substation equipments and hopes to help the operators&themaintainers on the worksite.
