City metro system is the most important component of city railwaytransportation system. Many advanced cities in the world have alreadychoosen to develop metro system as their main transportation systembecause of its anvantages such as big traffic volume, fast speed, pollutionfree and punctual. According to some studies, energy consumption ofmetro system account for a large proportion of total city energyconsumption. So it is certain to bring benefits for our sociey to reach itsgoal of energy conservation and emission reduction if we focus on energyconservation research on city metro system. This thesis is made up of two parts. First, it establishes an electricalmodel of Shanghai No.1Metro by using Matlab. This model consists oftwo submodels which are power supply model (110kV city grid system, traction substaion,1500V direct-current mains) and locomotive tractionsystem model (inverter, AC motor, locomotive load model). The Matlabsystem can simulate effectively the real operation status of Shanghai No.1Metro. Second, the thesis puts its focus on the train’ timetableoptimization for energy conservation. Because of the uncertainty of train’ movement, it’s hard to find an analytic expression. So the thesis appliesGenetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm intoMatlab simulation platform in order to find out an optimized timetable. The thesis also compares several schemes and points out that thepresented algorithm can provide an optimal solution.
