The Digital Prototyping technology is a kind of completely new one, whose emergence and development brings an innovation to the traditional way of products design. By applying this technology, engineers can make various simulation and analysis on the built virtual digital model of the product, which could help them to find out the potential problems and mistakes of the product in the design period, and then they can amend the mistakes and improve the design sketch quickly. Therefore, applying Digital Prototyping technology in the process of product design could reduce its dependence on the physical one, which could reduce the development cost, cut the development cycle, improve the design quality and product performance and increase the competition capability of the enterprise.The Slurry Balance Tunnel Boring Machine is a mechanical and electrical product with complicated structure and high automation, its design has the rigorous requirements on kinematics capability, dynamic capability and mechanical structural capability. To assure the design quality of the product, cutting the design time and reduce the design cost effectively, Digital Prototyping technology should be introduced into the whole design procedure of this product.This thesis studied the Φ11.182m Slurry Balanced TBM as the research object for Digital Prototype technology.Firstly, the key parts of Slurry Balance Tunnel Boring Machine were built and assembled by three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E, checked interference on the model, generated test reports, optimized and improved the design and ultimately form a complete digital prototype model of Tunnel Boring Machine.Secondly, on the basis of Digital Prototyping model of Tunnel Boring Machine, motion simulation was made by the Pro/E animation module to display the working condition.Thirdly, the dynamic simulation of Tunnel Boring Machine under working condition was made by dynamic simulation software ADAMS. The relationship between the drive torque and the cutter head angular velocity, and the relationship between the thrust and the tunneling thrust speed, the simulation results can provide theoretical basis and guide for the construction.Lastly, the strength, stiffness and modal analysis was made on the cutter head, that is an important part of Tunnel Boring Machine by finite element analysis software ANSYS, the analysis results can provide theoretical basis for structural optimization of cutter head.By applying Digital Prototyping technology, this thesis realized the modeling and simulation of the Φ11.182m Slurry Balance Tunnel Boring Machine. This method is not only suitable for design and development of this Tunnel Boring Machine, but also for the other Tunnel Boring Machine. And it also can be extended to research, design and develop other mechanical system with complicated structure. So the research method and the consequence in this thesis have the significant practical value.
