When the existing approaches of reservoir operation guarantee the social and economicdevelopment, it also causes eco-environmental crisis in the river, such as the drying up of thelower reaches, reduction of biological diversity, worsening water pollution and thedeterioration of the water environment, etc.Therefore, how to build a new model of thereservoir operation management and gradually restore the river ecosystem health is a keyproblem needing to study. In this paper, the Liaohe River basin is taken as the research object,and it studied on the basic theory and the model of the reservoir ecological operation and onthe three-dimensional simulation system for reservoir ecological operation in the basin. Themain research work and results are as follows:(1)On the basis of the review of theoretical study on ecological operation conducted athome and abroad and the scientific practice, a number of technical problems about reservoirecological operation are concerned, and from the aspects of connotation and principles forecological operation, the theoretical framework of reservoir ecological operation iscomprehensively and systematically introduced. This paper researched the content ofecological operation and discussed its approaches.(2)According to the exploitation and utilization of water resources in Liaohe River andthe eco-environmental problems caused by it, this paper established multi-object model ofreservoir ecological operation, in which the period of ten days is the operational period duringflood season and a month during non-flood season. The reservoirs in Hunhe River and TaiziRiver are taken as the examples,10kinds of scenarios are proposed and the operation modelis solved by simulation and multi-objective genetic algorithm of large-scale systemdecomposition-coordination method. Through analysis and calculation, results of differentscenarios are obtained, and the results are analyzed and optimized, which provides basis andtechnical supports for the improvement in water utilization efficiency and the ecologicalenvironment of the lower reaches.(3)By using the NVP three-dimensional simulation basic platform, the geographicinformation system, virtual simulation technology and reservoir ecological operation modelare integrated to establish three dimensional simulation system of reservoir ecologicaloperation for Taizi River basin, with which the three dimensional dynamic simulation for reservoir operation is carried out, and the decision makers can get the latest and most accurateinformation within the shortest time and implement dynamic show, query, analysis andsimulation. With provided visual three-dimensional information service, the decision makerscan make fast judgment and take corresponding counter measures, which could improve theefficiency and level of engineering operation.
