Mineral resources play an important role in the development of national economy. In thepast decades, large area goafs had been formed because of mineral resources mined heavy. Withthe further development of economy, the requirement of minerals increase steadily, coal hadbeen mined under the building, railway and water. Mining activities cause the deformation ofthe earth’s surface, leading building to destroy, which bring great loss and badly threaten topeople’s lives and estate. On another hand, with the spread of infrastructure, the building area isbadly lack. many projects have to be building on old goafs. Some goafs maybe be activatedunder the additional load, which affected the normal use of building. The key to reduce themining damage is to master the stress of the building foundation. So it is meaningful to researchthe stress distribution and deformation of building foundation above goafs.Taking the goaf of Shandong as a test example and adopting several methods (such asexperiment of analog simulation and numerical simulation), this topic inquries into somefactors in detail which affected the stress distribution and deformation of building foundationabove goafs, at the same time, it also studies the law of foundation loss. The relationship onthe surface change area with mining depth and distance is given at last. Based on the researchresults in this paper, we hope that it can give some help and theoretical guidance for the designof the resistance to deformation to reduce mining damage.
