In recent years, Urban land become more and more tension and housing construction land is more scarce with the level of urbanization continue to improve in China. We were required to space development to improve land utilization, therefore, the high-rise residential buildings emerged. Due to the number of stories increases in high-rise residential buildings, the horizontal load gradually replace the vertical loads and become dominant role, and with the number of stories increases, the structural design is more complex and investment. We must design optimally for the high-rise residential buildings to reduce costs, especially high-rise residential building vertical lateral force resisting members, thus there are good economic and social benefits.This paper describes the social background of the development of residential products, classification, characteristics, special design requirements and applicable structural system, in addition, it discuss theory about the various vertical lateral force resisting structure of concrete high-rise residential buildings and list shows applicable height of6degrees. To study the effect that layout position of the vertical lateral force resisting component, the length、wall thickness、concrete strength grade and other factors of shear wall pier impact on the structural stiffness of the anti-side force, engineering actual case of Nanchang which belongs to6degrees region carried out simplified in this paper, and the comparison model established, numerical analysis by the finite element software the SATWE in PKPM, comparative analysis of the various models of the displacement ratio and cycle ratio carried out and finally draw relevant conclusions:In order to explore optimization settings of vertical anti-side force structure system in the18-story high-rise residential building, six different vertical lateral force resisting structural system model was established in the paper, on the basis of a variety of system models to meet the requirements of the seismic performance, comprehensive comparison advantages and disadvantages of the various structural systems in using performance and economic benefits concluded what structural system better finally.The paper discussed further high-rise residential buildings by analysis of a high-rise residential building under construction case of Nanchang. It’s also discussed the method of optimal design for Shear wall structure of the high-rise residential building. Finally, The paper summarize the conclusions obtained in this study work and do prospects for future work.
