High performance asphalt-pavement of Superpave is the research achievement ofthe American Strategic Highway Research Plan (SHRP). SHRP consists with three partswhich include specification of asphalt binder,mixture design and analytic system andcomputer system. The experts in our country have also studied in the high performanceasphalt-pavement of Superpave for many years. According to the differences of thecondition between China and American, we should study the superpave base on ourown condition to fulfill the fact of the engineering.This paper is relying on the Gansu Tianshui highway and Xi Changfeng highwaySuperpave bituminous pavement construction engineering, we study on the applicationof Superpave expressway asphalt pavement in Gansu region.By having an investigation on the regional climate, environment, found thetemperatures and rainfall are differen in different areas of Gansu province; by having aninvestigation on the main structure of asphalt pavement of Expressway and maindiseases in Gansu, find the asphalt pavement structure form a single in gansu province,asphalt road surface wheel rut, cracking and water damage is severe.Analysis thefeasibility of Superpave promotion in Gansu area according to the actual situation ofasphalt pavement in Gansu province.Through studying the standards for Superpave mixtures as a pavement material,PG grades of asphalt used in Gansu district and technical index of Aggregates used ineastern Gansu area of Gansu were proposed. By having a study on the gradation rangeof Sup-20and Sup-13, this paper give a recommend gradation range of Sup-20andSup-13, compared with the traditional AC structure gradation range relatively reduced.By studying the grading of Sup-20and Sup-13which through and avoid therestricted zone, which indicate that the restricted zone could be canceled under thecondition that the fine aggregate mechanism sand is been used.Relying on Tianshui transit Expressway, this paper studied on the designed airvoids, rotary compaction times of Superpave, studied the construction technology andsite degree of compaction control index of Superpave. By studying the site degree ofcompaction control index, this paper proposed the standard for Superpave site degree ofcompaction control index.
