Shihu garden once was the old residence of series ruler Hu Bangzuo in Ming DynastyJiaqing epoch, and then it was used as a private residence since it was bought by DingShanbao who was the richest man in Wei Country of the Qing Dynasty era. Shihu gardenas a famous ancient garden, it not only absorbs the essence of construction of gardens innorth and south, but also constructs its unique development on the basis of former. It is atypical example of small and brief transition.At present, the research of Shihu gaden mostly is about the gardening features,garden art style and layout. The paper mainly concentrates on the architectural decorativefeatures of Shihu garden. It makes me reflect and explore about its building decorativefeatures, especially for its unique regional and decorative characteristics, just like theembodiment of Shandong Weifang bamboo holding the unique practice of decorating. Thebuildings can not only reflect in material technologies in Ming and Qing Dynasty, but alsoembody the people’s spiritual aspirations and aesthetic experiences. All of these can bereflected from the building decoration characteristics. So the paper can enrich the existingdata of Shihu garden’s architectural aspects. This private garden is located in the north,but it has the architectural style both north and south. The paper researches on the existingbuildings in Shihu gaden via the collection of various historical, cultural, technical andother data, and then it took a large number of Shihu garden building’s photo. It researcheson the garden architecture decoration features specifically, developing the Chinesetraditional garden building decoration elements. It will put forward to the new prospects ofthe Chinese landscape architecture decoration, and it can benefit the development of theChinese ancient architectural culture.
