In the thermal power plant there are problems such as high power auxiliary motor with high power consumption and burning motor. The usage of frequency conversion technology can realize energy saving consumption reducing and high voltage motor soft start, which achieves the purpose of improving motor running environment. In this paper, we start with stating the theory of the high-voltage inverter. On the basis of analyzing the application of high-voltage inverter to the thermal power plants at home and abroad, we identify the implementation of primary fan’s frequency conversion technology and auto-by-pass combined with the fact of transforming primary fan in the paper. We entirely analyze and study the energy-saving effect and security of high-voltage inverter with auto-by-pass. We have proven that by using the technology of high-voltage inverter with auto-by-pass to high power auxiliary motor in the thermal power plant, energy consumption has been effectively reduced and the number of flame-out of units fighting has been decreased. Thus, it is worth promoting practical application on the thermal power plants.
