With the develop of the economics, a large number of unbalanced loads and single-phase high-capacity loads appear in the power system, Such as electric arc furnace, electric railway, and rolling mills, etc. And this type of loads are often referred as the impact load. This kind of loads often have a great impact on the power system. such as producing harmonic currents unbalance load and negative-sequence current. For the reason that these loads are powered by the high pressure power network. the large impact loads not only affect the system under the jurisdiction of the main power company. but also affect the network of the adjacent power companies. The impact loads can lead to the distortion of grid current and voltage waveform. the fluctuations of voltage, the unbalance of three-phase voltage, the lower of power factor, and the emergence of harmonics. Simultaneously, they can affect the normal operation and service life of the generator. As the heart of the power system. the generator is the indemnification of the normal operation of power systems, power quality and stability of the operation of the entire society. Therefore, it is of great significance to ensure their safely, normal, stable operation. Based on the analysis, this paper analyze the impact of harmonics, unbalance of three-phase, voltage flicker and other issues produced by the impact loads to the normal operation of the generator. Furthermore, the simple and accurate simulation model of electric arc furnace which is a typical impact load is established in MATLAB according to the random nature of electric arc furnace arc and the actual operating environment of electric arc furnace electrical system applying the nonlinear method of solving equations. And the impact of impact loads to the turbine is analyzed through the simulation of the experimental data.
