The wheel hub, which is one of the most important parts of automobile drivingsystem, s upport various loads produced by the vehicle and road. Its strength a ndfatigue life affect the vehicle’s quality and perfor mance directly.In this paper, the author studied the small rhombic car’s aluminum alloy wheelhub’s design, strength and fatigue life through finite eleme nt analysis method. Thespecific research content as follows:(1) Decide design sche mes of front&rear and middle wheel hub in strictaccordance with the national standards for aluminum alloy wheel hub design,andgenerate3D geometry model of the four designs of aluminum alloy wheel in3D UGsoftware (Uni graphics),the n finish the preparation work w ith finite ele ment softwareANSYS such as handling ma terials, unit, mesh a nd build four finite eleme nt model.(2) Set up simulation conditions according to the national standard concernedwith dyna mic bending fatigue testing of the alumi num alloy wheel.Calculate load andthe stress distribution b y using LS-DYNA software. The result shows that all the fourdesigns can meet the requireme nts of strength.(3) The simulation analysis of fatigue life of aluminum alloy wheel hub isperformed by VPG fatigue analysis software.The result shows that only the seconddesign has perfect mechanical structure and can be the finally selected solution.(4) Take measures to improve the rest of the designs whose fatigue life is notenough according to the dyna mic mechanical analysis and designs of the four designs.
